It’s that time of the year to shave, spray and donate at the CANSA 20th annual Shavathon fundraising event taking place, at various shopping centres across South Africa, on Saturday 25 February 2023, with certain venues also hosting events on Sunday, 26 February 2023. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Shavathon is one of the highlights on the CANSA calendar bringing families, friends and colleagues together in solidarity with cancer survivors. We would love to be able to provide our volunteers with the tools they need to operate within their communities – be it with a laptop, smartphone, training and upskilling on computer software and social media platforms or assistance with mobile data so that they can, optimally, continue with their work for CANSA. We’re operating with a business model that relies on technology and it’s important for volunteers to be able to attend meetings, training, and supervision sessions online. Daredevil Run – Bigger, Braver and Back in September 2022

Hollard has announced that the 2022 Daredevil Run will take place on Friday, 30 September. This annual event features men and boys, dressed only in purple speedos, running through the streets of Johannesburg during rush hour. The event has not only raised many an eyebrow over the past 12 years but has also played an enormous role in raising awareness about testicular and prostate cancers. Pink Trees for Pauline – Ten Years of Making a Difference in SA Cancer Community

The 2022 Pink Trees for Pauline campaign, #doekwithadifference (a colourful headscarf), in collaboration with CANSA, will launched in communities across South Africa for the 5th consecutive year. The unique headscarves are sold at R100 each, hoop earrings for R50, stainless steel earrings for R100, and pink fabric to decorate trees at R30 per meter. Hannon Cherry lipsticks are also available at R170 each. Where there is a Will there is a Way – and a Wig!

When #lockdown was first announced we knew that there would be certain limitations to the work that CANSA could, physically, continue with – such as supplying wigs to patients in need – however thanks to an incredible team effort, we were able to put a smile on a little patient’s face when she received her new wig during lockdown.

No matter the level of “lockdown,” evidence shows that people living with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are at higher risk of severe complication if they contract COVID-19.
