Who We Are
A leader in the fight against cancer in SA, since 1931, the purpose of the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), is to offer a unique, integrated service to the public and to all people affected by cancer.
It’s mission is to be the preferred non-profit leader that enables research with regards to lowering cancer risk, educating the public regarding symptoms, screening and risk reduction, and providing care and support to all people affected by cancer.
Furthermore our Advocacy team performs a Watchdog Role striving to ensure that South African policy makers are influenced with regards to important cancer control issues, and patients’ right to healthcare is protected. Read more….

Our aim is to ensure that cancer Survivors and their loved ones don’t have to face cancer alone; we’re here to support them through every step of their cancer journey.*

CANSA a Member of Patient User Network
CANSA is part of the Patient User Network which is an alliance of Healthcare NPOs focused on equitable healthcare including imporvement f patient rights, access to treatments, and provision of critical services and infrastructure, with the aim to improve overall health for all South African residents, through collective advocacy and awarenesss.

CANSA Whistle Blowers Service
Whistle Blowers (Pty) Ltd is an independent subscription service, offering a 24 / 7 free call facility enabling employees or third parties to anonymously blow the whistle on irregularities within the subscribing company. The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) has secured the services of Whistle Blowers as of July 2018.

CANSA CEO Attends Global NCD Alliance Forum 2017
Elize Joubert, CANSA CEO, is representing South African Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance (SA NCD Alliance) at the 2nd Global NCD Alliance Forum, 9th-11th December, 2017, in Sharjah, UAE. This year’s theme is “Stepping up the pace on NCDs: making 2018 count”. #NCDAF2017.12.08

CANSA and its CEO Announced as 2017 National Business Awards Finalists
Against strong competition, Elize Joubert, CEO of the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) has been confirmed as a finalist in the 15th annual National Business Awards, in the ‘Top Performing Business Leader of the Year Award’ category. Further, CANSA the organisation has been listed as a finalist in the ‘Top Performing Public Service Award’ category. CANSA and Joubert will compete for the Winner’s Trophy on 16 November 2017, at Emperors Palace.

CANSA CEO is UICC Delegate at 67th Session WHO Regional Committee for Africa
The Cancer Association of South Africa’s CEO, Elize Joubert, is joining the 67th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for Africa, taking place in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, from 28th August to 1st September 2017, as the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) delegate, on behalf of UICC Management, and delivering statements at this meeting.

CANSA Announced 2017 Standard Bank Top Women Awards Winner in Public Service Category
Elize Joubert, CANSA CEO, who was also a Finalist in the Award Category, Female Public Sector Leader Award, said, “This award is a welcome acknowledgement for all the great work CANSA does to empower women to spearhead the fight against cancer. And it’s also wonderful recognition for every women at CANSA, staff and volunteers that are rendering and living our mission.”

KANSA Vier 85 Jaar se Stryd om ‘n Wêreld Sonder Kanker te Skep
Niemand sou in 1931 kon voorspel wat ‘n grootskaalse en wydverspreide impak die Nasionale Kankervereniging, soos dit toe genoem is, sou gehad het toe dit in daardie jaar gestig is nie. Vandag speel die Kankervereniging van Suid-Afrika (KANSA) ‘n leidende rol in kankernavorsing en die ontwikkeling van die beleid en beheer van kanker, sowel as die voorsiening van sorg, ondersteuning en opleiding aan Suid-Afrikaners wat geraak word deur hierdie gevreesde siekte.
