CANSA CEO Represents South Africa on the Global Stage at the UICC World Cancer Leaders’ Summit 2025
We are proud to share that our CEO, Elize Joubert, was invited to attend the prestigious UICC World Cancer Leaders’ Summit 2025, held on 19–20 November. As part of the main programme, Elize was selected to serve as a Table Host, moderating a series of interactive discussions designed to foster global reflection, knowledge exchange, and collaborative action in cancer control.
Throughout the Summit, Elize facilitated three key discussions with leaders from across the world:
A Global View
UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs, global cancer trends, and national responses
Participants explored the future of cancer control within the broader NCD agenda, and how countries can leverage the Political Declaration to strengthen national cancer strategies.
Accelerating Action at National Level
Cancer care in Indigenous communities and vulnerable populations
This dialogue highlighted equitable cancer care initiatives and approaches to co-creating programmes with communities often underserved by health systems.
Delivering the Future
Implementation of the new World Cancer Declaration
Leaders reflected on how the Declaration can be used in their own settings, and which of the new 5x5x5 targets will drive the greatest impact.
CANSA’s contribution through Elize, ensured that South Africa’s voice—and the realities faced by our communities—were part of global conversations shaping the future of cancer control.
At CANSA, we remain committed to advocating for equitable, person-centred cancer care and to working alongside global partners to advance a cancer-free world.
