Gary Rom Gives Back to Survivors in Style for CANSA’s 90th

6 May 2021 – CANSA is excited to be partnering with Gary Rom Hairdressing to celebrate 90 years of fighting cancer through research, education and support. Gary Rom is giving back to CANSA Survivors in style by offering 90 cancer survivors the Gary Rom hair experience at salons countrywide. #HairTellsAStory #CANSA90

Hair tells a story often about someone’s cancer ‘journey’. Hair loss is sometimes a traumatic side effect of cancer treatment. When hair grows back it can return differently, with changes in colour or texture, which can be unexpected and difficult to manage. Gary Rom aims to treat CANSA survivors (cancer patients assisted by CANSA) to a free haircut, blow dry, styling and if needed – colour, highlights and treatment – to make them feel special after having to endure in some cases, harsh times.

Gary Rom, Group CEO explains why this is a cause close to his heart, “I have always been an advocate of great hair that is in great condition. My involvement with CANSA is a blessing for myself and the brand, as we could change lives, and change the way individuals feel about themselves after undergoing chemo and radiation. The Gary Rom brand is able and willing to welcome CANSA survivors into our salons and look after their hair totally free for the first visit, this is our way of easing these precious lives back into society. Often the hair changes once this has grown back after treatment, and this presents a challenge to most. I am super honoured to be able to offer this service and am grateful to CANSA for the opportunity to make a difference.”

Maria Scholtz, CANSA’s Head: Sustainability says, “We’re excited to align ourselves with a brand that has a passion for cancer patients. And it’s a significant way to celebrate this remarkable milestone in our history. Partnerships are strengthened so that we can continue making an impact based on our values of leadership, improvement, passion, accountability and integrity.”

CANSA Survivors (cancer patients assisted by CANSA) are referred to Gary Rom franchise owners nationally for appointments from Mondays to Thursdays only. All salons all follow COVID-19 protocols and guidelines to keep clients safe.
