Podcast: Cancer Patients and Hair Loss – On the CANSA Couch
Hair loss is a common side-effect of chemotherapy treatment. In this heartfelt episode, we explore the emotional journey of individuals facing hair loss and the impactful support provided by CANSA.
Join our guests as they discuss hair loss in cancer patients and give advice on how they are helping to make a difference in cancer patient’s lives:
- CANSA Seal of Recognition (CSOR) partner Charis Lewis, Hair Stuff growth serum
- CSOR partner Sue Richards, Compassion Hat
- Lucinda Carter from CANSA Head Office who manages hair donations and wigs for cancer patients
All three guests have been touched by cancer personally and have, in their own way, navigated the challenges of hair loss. Lucinda explains, “CANSA’s wigs and headwear service is vital to patients. Being able to provide wigs, wraps or Compassion Hats to patients helps to empower them, it restores their self-confidence and brings a smile to their face. And knowing that our wigs are made possible from hair donations received from the public, they become not just a physical covering but a symbol of solidarity and understanding”.
The newly launched podcast series, ‘On the CANSA Couch’ is a hub of information, focusing on practical ways to reduce our cancer risk while spotlighting consumer goods awarded and carrying the CANSA Smart Choice Seal of Recognition. This Smart Choice Seal is a valuable educational tool assisting all South Africans, including cancer patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers, in making informed shopping decisions. It’s also about education and information to reduce exposure to cancer-causing compounds (carcinogens) and other risk factors associated with cancer development.
