Comrades Marathon is CANSA Active
CANSA Active is at the Comrades Marathon, raising awareness about the value of a healthy, balanced lifestyle, which includes sufficient activity and being SunSmart, to lower personal cancer risk.
Pop in at the Expo
We can’t wait to see you at our Expo stall (A41 – A42) at the Durban Exhibition Centre, 8 to 10 June 2023 and invite you to sign the Tobacco Control Pledge and complete a CANSA Lifestyle Risk Assessment.
Take a Stand
Tobacco is one of the leading causes of cancer and non-communicable diseases globally and CANSA is raising awareness of the importance of passing the new bill submitted to Parliament. Read more about the benefits of the new bill and add your name to the growing list of supporters!
Transform your Life
Our CANSA Lifestyle Risk Assessment tool is available online and you can complete it at the Expo in a few minutes, assessing what you can do to improve your health and lower your personal cancer risk.
Grab our Kit
We’ll have all our latest CANSA Active merchandise on sale including running vests, socks and UV protective armsleeves (by SOX Footwear), and CANSA headwear.
Protect your Skin
As you know, CANSA advocates for a SunSmart lifestyle, especially when doing the sporting activity you love.
Our sunscreen Seal of Recognition partner, Ocean Freedom, will be selling their sunscreen and sunscreen samples will also be available. (All sunscreen partners have to conform to international standards with regards to providing adequate protection from UV rays).
Melanoma is the 5th most prevalent cancer in men, and 6th in women in South Africa according to the latest National Cancer Registry (2019). Check out the moles you want to avoid and what to do if you spot them in our video:
CANSA Active Refreshment Station (11 June)
Comrades participants and supporters can watch out for refreshment station 26 on Old Main Road, Bothas Hill (opposite the R103 sign at the bus stop, just past Sugar Loaf Centre, on the right hand side of the road).
CANSA Active staff and volunteers will be cheering on the runners and refreshing them.
Joseph Cotty Runs First C0mrades Marathon for CANSA
Joseph Cotty is going to run his first Comrades and we are thrilled that he has chosen to do so in support of CANSA!
Joseph only started running about three years ago and has worked extremely hard to reach the level of fitness required for the Comrades.
He is keen to raise money for CANSA, to support their work educating the public to lower cancer risk and providing care and support to cancer patients, caregivers and loved ones.
Please consider donating on GivenGain to support his efforts and the work CANSA does.
