Overberg Agri Turns Harvest Pink in Support of Cancer Awareness
Overberg Agri has turned part of this year’s harvest pink as part of a cancer awareness campaign in partnership with CANSA.
Pink grain storage bags are being used at selected Overberg Agri grain facilities in the Overberg during the current harvest season, creating a highly visible reminder of the importance of cancer awareness and early detection.
The first pink bags were filled at Overberg Agri’s Protem Grain Silo on 7 October, marking the start of the campaign. The bags will also be visible at selected grain facilities across the Overberg, including Lemoenskop, Ouplaas, Bredasdorp, Napier and Rietpoel.
The initiative forms part of a broader awareness campaign reaching Overberg Agri employees, producers, customers and surrounding communities through its grain facilities, retail stores, internal communication platforms and social media channels.
October places a particular focus on breast cancer awareness and women’s health, while the campaign will shift its focus to men’s health and cancer awareness during November.
After use, the pink grain bags will be recycled and the proceeds from the recycling will be donated to CANSA on behalf of Overberg Agri.
“Cancer affects so many families and communities, including those within the agricultural sector. Through this campaign, we want to use the visibility we have during harvest to encourage conversations around cancer awareness and the importance of early detection,” says Francois Joubert, Managing Director of Overberg Agri.
The campaign reinforces a simple message: A Healthy Harvest Starts Early.
Just as careful planning and early action are essential to a successful harvest, being aware of changes in one’s health and seeking advice early can make an important difference.
