All Aboard for CANSA 90th – Jené Palmer CANSA Board Member
Jené Palmer, Board member: “CANSA admirably symbolises the hope, determination and endurance demonstrated by cancer patients and those affected by cancer. Even though the organisation has faced many challenges, it continues to fight to serve others. This is a fitting tribute to the employees and volunteers who selflessly give of their time and energy to research different aspects of cancer; educate the public and encourage healthy lifestyles; and provide support for cancer patients and those affected by cancer.”
What is your key message that you would like to share about CANSA’s 90-year anniversary?
CANSA admirably symbolises the hope, determination and endurance demonstrated by cancer patients and those affected by cancer. My sincere appreciation for the difference you make to the world!
What service do you think CANSA should expand on in the next 10 years?
All 3 pillars of service namely, research, education and support, as they are interdependent.
Which part of CANSA’s service do you admire the most – research, educate, or support?
Every aspect is admirable, especially given the limited resources available.
What is your leadership style?
I like to encourage people to be the best they can be and provide support where I can.
What is your motivation to serve CANSA?
My grandmother suffered and died from lung cancer. I was amazed by the support she received from “strangers” who just wanted to help and ease her suffering. This had a profound impact on my life and encouraged me to find opportunities to pay it forward.
