All Aboard for CANSA 90th – Elize Joubert CANSA CEO and Board Member

Elize Joubert CANSA CEO
Elize Joubert, CANSA CEO: ” I appreciate being able to make a positive difference in a cancer patient or loved one’s life through CANSA. I am immensely proud of all CANSA’s achievements, and to have played a role in this organisation for 30 years.”
What is your key message that you would like to share about CANSA’s 90-year anniversary?
I am so grateful that I am surrounded by a highly driven and successful Board, staff and volunteers who genuinely care about those they work with and the communities in which they serve. We would not be able to operate without our committed volunteers, who are the backbone of our organisation, or the public’s support.
Which part of CANSA’s service do you admire the most – research, educate, or support?
CANSA is a leader in the fight against cancer, offering a unique, integrated service to the public and all people affected by cancer. This includes supporting local cancer research, driving community based educational campaigns to lower personal cancer risk, offering cancer screening and employee wellness programmes to promote early detection of cancer and providing a care service which helps patients and loved ones to manage the physical and psychological challenges of cancer treatment in a practical manner. CANSA also advocates for patients’ rights within the workplace and access to treatment, medication, pain control and palliative care. Furthermore, CANSA has contributed to the National Cancer Strategic Framework, 2017 – 2022, and to updating national cancer prevention and control policies for breast, cervical and prostate cancer (yet to be published).
What is your leadership style?
Collaborative.
What is your motivation to serve CANSA?
I appreciate being able to make a positive difference in a cancer patient or loved one’s life through CANSA.
