CANSA Volunteer Vacancy – Male Volunteer Patient Navigators

CANSA is looking to recruit 5 x Male Volunteer Patient Navigators that will navigate and provide support to prostate cancer patients during their treatment journey at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital and post treatment. Patient navigators will provide 3 types of navigation:

Physical navigation: Accompany, direct and/or guide prostate cancer patients to relevant testing and treatment points.

Resource navigation: Refer prostate cancer patients to relevant resources that are available within community to assist patients to complete their treatment journey.

Clinical navigation: Provide clinical and psychosocial support to patient, that will align with Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital policies and procedures. (If the patient navigator has a clinical, psychological, or social work qualification)

Volunteers will earn a monthly stipend.

 Criteria:

  • At least 35 years of age
  • Must have Matric certificate
  • Fluent in English and IsiZulu (Afrikaans will be advantageous)
  • Live near Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, Durban
