Stacy Malkan talks about the hazardous chemicals in cosmetics
Stacy Malkan is the author of the award-winning book, “Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry,” and co-founder of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a coalition of non-profit health and environmental groups in the United States that are leading the movement to shift policies to eliminate harmful chemicals from consumer products. Stacy’s book describes the research on hazardous chemicals in cosmetics, and chronicles the eight-year effort by environmental health groups to hold the beauty industry accountable for making safe products. For the past decade, Stacy has been a leading communications strategist for environmental health campaigns in the United States and she is frequently interviewed by major media outlets including the New York Times, USA Today and Washington Post. Television appearances include Good Morning America, ABC News and Democracy Now! Stacy is a former journalist and published an independent newspaper from 1994-2000 in the Colorado Rockies. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Business from the University of New Hampshire, and she currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
