CANSA launches new offices and mobile health unit in Mpumalanga

The inauguration of the new local CANSA offices was celebrated on Thursday, 22 July 2010. Lorraine Kleinhans, Provincial Manager CANSA Mpumalanga, felt that this was a dream come true. A mobile health unit “kapokkie trokkie” was also launched. The unit will serve the rural areas surrounding Mpumalanga, providing women with screening facilities, including pap smears.

Cervical cancer is the highest cancer affecting women in the Mpumalanga region. One in 35 women will develop cervical cancer. The good news is that it is preventable and curable, If it is detected in the early stages. The mobile health unit will be able to assist women in rural areas by providing a means of early detection.
