CANSA and ‘Iloveboobies’ Work Together

When a passion for extreme mountain biking, emotions for a loved one lost and the will to make a difference collide, it reaches epic proportions in communities. The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and Iloveboobies are taking hands and taking cancer screening to the communities.

Avid Endurance Mountain Biking Teams of Iloveboobies are partnering with CANSA, by putting together a cancer screening tour, replicating the Absa Cape Epic route in the Boland and Overberg areas (Meerendal, Durbanville; Greyton; Elgin; Paarl). This year four Iloveboobies teams completed the rigorous race in support of CANSA as participants, and now want to give back to the community even more. Iloveboobies have also sold more than 3500 pairs of socks with proceeds being donated to CANSA.

Spokesperson Nicky Webb says, “Two years ago we started the Iloveboobies fundraising drive so that we could get the Mobile Health Clinic to the rural areas and offer cancer screening.  Thank you for buying socks, donating, taking photos and sharing.  Please keep doing this – we really are making a difference!”

Since Iloveboobies started they now have Ironmen, Old Mutual Joberg2C Mountain Bike racers, Old Mutual Two Ocean Marathon and Comrades Marathon athletes and many individual non (crazy) fitness enthusiasts that are supporting and promoting the cause, both here and in Europe.

The project will gain further momentum at Meerendal Estate on 8 August 2017, where the CANSA Mobile Health Clinic will offer cancer screening that includes Clinical Breast Examinations, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) blood tests to detect for prostate abnormalities, Healthy Lifestyle Risk Assessments, as well as Smokelyzer tests, an awareness tool that is used to detect the percentage carbon monoxide in your lungs. CANSA will also hold an exhibition and do a presentation on Women’s Health.

Donations towards this cause can be made on a safe and secure online platform on https://www.givengain.com/a/iloveboobies/ as well as posting messages of support on the Iloveboobies Facebook or Instagram profiles.
