Stage 4

How long have you been living with that cancer?

Since December 2021

How does living with cancer affect you in general in your day-to-day living?

I am currently a second year student and doing BED Teaching for Grade R – 3. I have put my studies on hold for the time being, until I finished my chemo sessions. I also work part time, but with my chemo sessions it’s hard to work full time every day.

Is there a family history of cancer? Please elaborate if yes.

No

How have you or your loved ones been affected by you living with cancer?

The last few months have been a very difficult road. My parents, family and friends support me a lot. I hold on to Jesus’ hand every day and know that He will never leave me alone, even though there are many difficult days.

How has having cancer affected you during this time of COVID-19?

I was diagnosed after the big Covid fight. It does not really have a big effect.

What is your message to our government regarding the prevention, management and treatment of cancer?

Cancer awareness, more support groups and school visits especially among children.

What is your message to other people living with cancer?

Never give up. Try to be as positive in each situation as possible

Is pain a daily part of your life and how do you manage it?

Currently I am not experiencing any pain. I am very grateful.
