CANSA CEO Attends Global NCD Alliance Forum 2017
Elize Joubert, CANSA CEO, is representing South African Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance (SA NCD Alliance) at the 2nd Global NCD Alliance Forum #NCDAF2017.12.08, 9th-11th December, 2017, in Sharjah, UAE. This year’s theme is “Stepping up the pace on NCDs: making 2018 count”.
It will be an interactive forum, providing a safe space for knowledge exchange, sharing good practice, and capacity building for NCD advocacy.
The focus will be on three key areas:
- Advocating for NCD prevention and control
- Breaking down silos and building synergies in the SDG era
- Sharing tools and strategies for NCD advocacy and mobilisation
The forum will provide a prime opportunity to unite and mobilise NCD civil society ahead of the 2018 UN High-level Meeting on NCDs and will bring together representatives from NCD civil society from across the world, building links with multilaterals, international NGOs, select government representatives and NCD experts.
The Global NCD Alliance Forum 2017 will offer an opportunity to homogenise knowledge regarding the global policy response and will serve to catalyse advocacy to drive national and regional progress on NCD prevention and control. It will launch the Advocacy Agenda of People Living with NCDs and will highlight good practice in engaging people living with NCDs, and youth, as movement champions.
CANSA is a co-founder of the South African Non-Communicable disease Alliance (SA NCD Alliance) along with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes SA and the Patient Health Alliance of Non-Governmental Organisations (PHANGO) and its 27 primarily patient–based groups.
