CANSA Free2Bme

What is AYA – CANSA Free2Bme?

AYA stands for Adolescents and Young Adults. An adolescent is a teenager (13 years to 17 years of age) and a young adult is 18 years to 25 years of age.

CANSA understands that being diagnosed with cancer when you are young – a teen or a young adult – may be especially overwhelming and frightening. You may not have many friends who can relate to what you are going through and you may not want to upset your parents, or if you are older, your life partner, by asking them certain questions. It is important to know your rights…

The CANSA Free2Bme AYA support service has been designed to offer you important information, practical and emotional support and encouragement.

Together with you we hope to develop the resources here. We look forward to your suggestions regarding content for this site. You are welcome to send them to ameiring@cansa.org.za

We hope that through our CANSA Free2Bme support service you will have the freedom to be yourself as you fight cancer and have the opportunity to connect with others who are going through a similar experience if you wish to do so.

You have come to the right space – you don’t have to face cancer alone!
