Pink Trees for Pauline – Ten Years of Making a Difference in SA Cancer Community
22 August 2022 – After ten years and hundreds of kilometres of material in more than 140 towns, Pink Trees for Pauline continues to look to the future with dedication and great excitement.
The 2022 Pink Trees for Pauline campaign, #doekwithadifference (a colourful headscarf), in collaboration with CANSA, will launched in communities across South Africa for the 5th consecutive year.
Khalil Gibran says, “Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.”
“Thank you to those who share the beauty of their humanity by serving, giving, caring, and participating with passion and dedication enabling Pink Trees for Pauline to make a difference in cancer communities and in their families across the country,” says Adri Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen, Managing Director of Pink Trees for Pauline.
“The organization has gone from strength to strength since 2012, and in the past five years, we have been raising even more funds with the help of CANSA, specifically for the care and support programmes of cancer patients,” adds Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen.
Gerda Strauss, CANSA’s Head of Service Delivery, explains how the campaign helps those affected by cancer in their community. “CANSA is passionate about caring for and serving patients. During COVID-19, the needs of our patients and their loved ones have increased dramatically. Thanks to the long-term partnership with Pink Trees for Pauline, we can make a big impact through the funds raised. We can assist patients in need by providing diapers, meal replacements, wheelchairs, and other medical assistive devices. CANSA values this relationship, and we look forward to a fantastic 2022 campaign where we can make a difference in the lives of many cancer patients across South Africa.”
Strauss further elaborated, “Some of our achievements in the previous financial year included offering CANSA Care Home services to 357 patients utilising funds from the project and sponsoring ten patients’ accommodation costs for 6 weeks each. We also repaired and updated medical equipment and our FotoFinder screening devices (for skin and mole analysis).”
The public and the business sector can contribute to this inspiring project and brighten up their lives and those of others. The unique headscarves are sold at R100 each, hoop earrings for R50, stainless steel earrings for R100, and pink fabric to decorate trees at R30 per meter. Hannon Cherry lipsticks are also available at R170 each. Pink Trees for Pauline invites clubs, workplaces, schools, institutions, and individuals to participate enthusiastically in the #doekwithadifference project.
