CANSA Funded Research Projects for Master of Public Health Students

We are seeking to fund two Master of Public Health students to conduct research on the two topics below which will form part of their Master’s dissertation. These are both qualitative research projects.

Research Topics to be funded:
  1. Reproductive health needs of reproductive-aged women (18-45) with cancer – what are their fertility intentions and family planning and contraceptive needs?
  1. The impact of the COVID -19 pandemic on CANSA care services – exploring the impact on services but also how services changed, adapted, and new approaches emerging from the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on all aspects of CANSA services. The focus will be on the experiences of CANSA service providers and other key stakeholders involved in CANSA service provision.
    • Budget: CANSA will fund up to R50 000/per student for research-related activities
    • CANSA services department will help facilitate the recruitment of potential study participants
  1. Registered Master’s student with a Master’s dissertation supervisor or supervisor who will agree to supervise the student
  2. Ethical approval will need to be obtained through your institution
  3. Research to result in a peer-reviewed publication or report suitable for feedback to study participants and CANSA staff
  4. Feedback to CANSA staff upon completion of research
